It has come to my attention that next Monday is December 1st, already, and that's when our Book Menage is slated to begin. However, that seems a bit soon, doesn't it?
So what does everyone say to starting the Menage on Monday, December 8? Same books (John Bowe's Nobodies and Reg Theriault's How to Tell When You're Tired), same type of discussion, different date. Feel free to invite other readers--and let them know that everyone who comments/discusses will automatically be in the running to win the books for the next Menage!
And remember to write down questions as you go, for us to discuss. I'm not the only one who gets to ask questions around here. And here's one I've got in mind and can ask ahead of time: What part/quote (if any) of each book particularly stuck with you, or made you think?
I'm off to conserve energy for a full day of eating tomorrow. Hope you are too--and that you have a very happy Thanksgiving.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

You too, Melanie, thanks!

No no no NO, next Monday is NOT December 1st. It cannot be. My book revisions are due on December 1st. Ergo, this coming Monday cannot be December.
My logic is impeccable.

And if you will be traveling sans computer access and not back until Dec 8, it's just going to feel really really weird. and all my bills will be paid late. (I'm just getting that feeling, ya know?)
Happy Giving-of-Thanks and Huh-It-Cannot-Be End-of-November Days!

December 8 works for me! Have a happy long weekend of reading!

Hell yes it's December next week--and I'll be on VAYCAY. For eleven whole days. I should be able to plow through all 900 pages of "2666" then. Go me.
Happy Thanksgiving. I'm going to pay a visit to my parents, help them put up Christmas decorations, then I'll be at work, getting paid to read and stuff myself with the Thanksgiving provisions everyone at the office is bringing in.

Lesbrarian,
Oh, I understand. It simply CANNOT be December--I have too many projects due too. Perhaps Santa will bring us all completed manuscripts and book indexes (in my case) for Christmas? Come on, Santa, Mama needs a brand new...everything.
Care,
Be careful with those bills! I hear the ol' credit card companies are looking for any excuse to jack interest rates--there's a huge surprise. Hopefully our new Menage schedule is a better fit with your traveling!
Venta,
See you there. You got the books, I presume?

Brandon,
YAY YOU! Vacay is always worth celebrating. Glad to hear you're liking "2666"--I'm on the waiting list for it, but with my history of being too lazy for big books, I'm not quite sure how that's going to work. Good luck with Thanksgiving and safe travels to and from your parents'!

Oh my, thank you so very much, for making me not feel desperately out-of-synch for neglecting to know which month (nevermind day) it is! 8th WAY better than 1st. Yep. Hooray!

I knew I liked you! I just finished "Nobodies" during lunch and I've only read the first chapter of HTKWYT. Reprieve!

Jessica!
Always glad to provide a reprieve. Never leave it up to a born procrastinator to set the schedule, I guess!
