Not much to report today, other than a reminder that our next Book Menage, in which we will read Tony Horwitz's Blue Latitudes: Boldly Going Where Captain Cook Has Gone Before and Bill Bryson's In a Sunburned Country, starts next Monday, April 5. Is everyone ready? We'll discuss the two books all next week!
In other reading news I picked up Shirley Jackson's horror classic We Have Always Lived in the Castle over the weekend, and am very much looking forward to it. Thanks again to everyone who submitted horror suggestions last week--I plan to refer to that list for my horror reading for a long time to come!
i LOVE that book, and here's hoping you do too. and maybe i should start those menage books...

Beth,
I just polished off the menage books myself. The Horwitz book is pretty meaty and takes a bit to read, but the Bryson moves right along. If nothing else you can get a good flavor of both in the first 100 pages.

well, i brought the horowitz with me to work for my lunch break today. and i have quite a bit of baking to do this week, so it'll be good to read while i'm in between steps. i figured i'd leave the bryson for this weekend, because i assumed it would be lighter, and i knew it was shorter. but i'll definitely keep your 100 page suggestion in mind if i get into trouble!
looking forward to the menage :)

Thanks for including the Horwitz. I had it on the shelf forever, but hadn't read it. I think it is one of his better ones.

Staring Horowitz tomorrow, so should be ready. The Bryson is my "wanna move to Australia" fallback book, so I think I'm covered.
Menage, yay!

Tripp,
I'm glad we gave you a reason to read it! Sometimes it feels good to knock a long-timer off the old TBR pile.
Rachael,
How's the move to Australia plan going? After reading the Bryson, I think I share your dream. Good luck with the Horwitz!!

I've read the Bryson several times, so I should be good on that one. I just got BL through ILL the other day, but I'm in the middle of two other largish books that I'm really enjoying, so I'm not sure when I'll get to it! I'll try to get through at least the first 100 or so . . . good suggestion!

Well, it's been at the planning stage since 1999, so...really well, I'd say. I'm tentatively planning a hike in New Zealand in 2011, so I may get to Australia yet.
