29 April 2013

Well, I cut my cable bill 50% earlier in the year and it's giving me a lot more time for reading . . .

Good plan! I realized today I've only ever had cable for maybe one year out of my adult life (and that was in college, when I was deluded enough to think I might one day make money, and also my roommates wanted it), and that was enough, frankly. Unfortunately YouTube has become my go-to time-waster, taking me away from nighttime reading...

Thanks for the link CR. Saunders popped up on my radar for the first time this year in March since his short story collection Tenth of December is being bandied about as a possible Tournament of Books selection for 2013. I am not a big fan of short stories but I am a huge fan of the Tournament of Books and my library has a copy so I thought I would give it a whirl sometime this year. I will have to check out his essay collections some time as well.

So glad to share any of Saunders's work around. I will have to try his new collection of short stories, although, as noted, I much prefer his essays. Would love to hear what you have to say about either his fic or nonfic!
